چکیده

Abstract. The strength and stability properties of hierarchical load bearing networks and their strengthened variants have been discussed in recent work. Here, we study the avalanche time distributions on these load bearing networks. The avalanche time distributions of the V− lattice, a unique realization of the networks, show power-law behavior when tested with certain fractions of its trunk weights. All other avalanche distributions show Gaussian peaked behavior. Thus the V− lattice is the critical case of the network. We discuss the implications of this result.

Transmission of packets on a hierarchical network: Avalanches, statistics and explosive percolation

We discuss transport on load bearing branching hierarchical networks which can model diverse systems which can serve as models of river networks, computer networks, respiratory networks and granular media. We study avalanche transmissions and directed percolation on these networks, and on the V lattice, i.e., the strongest realization of the lattice. We find that typical realizations of the lat...

An Efficient Hierarchical Modulation based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Transmission Scheme for Digital Video Broadcasting

Due to the increase of users the efficient usage of spectrum plays an important role in digital terrestrial television networks. In digital video broadcasting, local and global content are transmitted by single frequency network and multifrequency network respectively. Multifrequency network support transmission of global content and it consumes large spectrum. Similarly local content are well ...

Critical and non-critical avalanche behavior in networks of integrate-and-fire neurons

We study avalanches of spike activity in fully connected networks of integrate-andre neurons which receive purely random input. In contrast to the self-organized critical avalanche behavior in sandpile models, critical and non-critical behavior is found depending on the interaction strength. Avalanche behavior can be readily understood by using combinatorial arguments in phase space.

Prediction of foundations behavior by a stress level based hyperbolic soil model and the ZEL method

In shallow foundations, the third bearing capacity factor, N, has been found to show a decreasing tendency with increasing the foundation size. It is supported by experimental observations and related mainly to stress level dependent nature of the soil. On the other hand, the bearing capacity is often obtained theoretically without consideration of the foundation vertical displacements. In thi...

APPLICATIONS OF PARTIAL DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS IN STABILITY INDEX AND CRITICAL LENGTH IN AVALANCHE DYNAMICS

In this study, Stability analysis of snow slab which is under detonation has developed in the present model. The model has been studied by using the basic concepts of non-detonation model and concepts of underwater explosions with appropriate modifications to the present studies. The studies have also been extended to account the effect of critical length variations at the time of detonation an...
